About NavImpulse
Like many sailors, I spent too many hours fighting with my autopilot — complex menus, endless recalibration, cables everywhere, and a system that never quite felt like it understood the boat. I’m Tahar Brouri, engineer and sailor based in France. I’ve been sailing my Beneteau First for years, and at some point I decided to build the autopilot I always wanted.
What makes NavImpulse different
Most autopilots on the market were designed around the constraints of the past — proprietary displays, complex wiring, and settings only a technician can navigate. NavImpulse starts from a different premise: your smartphone or tablet is already the most powerful display on your boat. Your wrist already carries a capable computer. Let’s use them.
The NavImpulse Copilot integrates a 9-axis IMU, a full motor controller, and the autopilot brain into a single compact unit. It connects wirelessly to your Android device — where the NavImpulse app handles voice commands, man overboard detection, and full autopilot control. Your Garmin watch connects to the app for wrist-level steering, without any extra wiring. Everything adapts to your boat’s dynamics in real time — no manual tuning required.
Plug in. Power up. Sail.
Built to last, certified to sail
Every NavImpulse unit is CE certified and backed by a 2-year warranty. The tiller drive carries an IP65 rating — built for the marine environment, not just tested in a lab.
We are a small, focused team. That means every order matters to us, every customer gets a real answer, and every piece of feedback shapes the next version.
